The Features People Use to Recognize Human Movement Style

I first provides a brief review of the past 3 decades of research into the visual perception of human movement. Following that I describe recent results from my laboratory that have explored the recognition of human movement style. Style recognition has been studied in the hope that one can generalize from the specific properties relevant for recognizing particular movements to a broad understanding of what visual information the sensory system must encode when viewing human movement.
